The underbelly of the Steel Bridge on the west side of the river, on a ride Heather and I took in the evening to explore. These tracks are for Amtrak freight and passenger rail; across the tracks is a space for pedestrians and bicyclists, and on top is space for light rail, streetcar, and auto traffic. All of this on a historic bridge.

On the way to the Saturday Farmer's Market in the South Park Blocks near PSU, we were intercepted by a little guy and his sidewalk chalk, pointing us to his lemonade stand - Can you believe only 50 cents for a full glass of lemonade! Wonderful. Later, we did have 16 fine folks over to our place for a cookout and then walked ten blocks down to the river front for the annual fourth of july fireworks.

Worst Day of the Year Bike Ride

So, this past Sunday Heather and I went on a bike ride. It was an organized 18 mile urban loop around the city called the Worst Day of the Year Ride. (Worst day, in terms of rain and cold and such.) At the beginning, it lived up to its reputation, as the conditions outside were cold and rainy. But, halfway into the ride, things looked up and the sun came out!

We had a good time, and rode around with a few of our friends - Lance and Becky, Ryan, and Maura. Just thought I'd pass along some pictures if you are interested. The ride's website is here if you want more information about it, including funny pictures of people dressed in costumes: http://www.worstdayride.com/
